Yes, the price of paint is included in our estimates, unless otherwise noted or discussed.
Normally, we apply 2 coats of paint. However, sometimes more coats may be needed (for example, when changing a dark color to a light color or vice versa). In the case of more than 2 coats, there is an extra cost.
You can go to any Sherwin-Williams store to look at paint colors, swatches, and to get samples. When you pick your color(s), send us the name and code of the color (e.g., Accessible Beige SW7036). If you want to use a color from a different brand, we can have Sherwin-Williams match it, or we can buy that brand if necessary.
You only need to remove items hanging from walls, as well as any fragile or expensive items. If you would like to keep a nail or screw, keep it in place. Otherwise, we will fill any holes in the wall before painting. We will move and cover furniture when we arrive.
For interior painting, we use tarps, plastic, and/or paper to cover floors, furniture, light fixtures, etc. For exterior painting, we also use tarps, plastic, and/or paper to cover plants, shrubs, windows, roofs, etc.
For interior painting, we patch holes and sand the surfaces to be painted. We also use primer and caulking where necessary. For exterior painting, we power wash the surfaces to be painted, scrape, and prime where necessary. We seal any cracks and replace any rotten wood (extra cost) prior to painting. We will usually do the power washing one day to several days ahead of time. We will let you know what day we plan to power wash.
We cannot see how much wood will need to be replaced until after power washing and prep work. Once that is completed, we will be able to see how much wood has rotted and needs to be replaced.
This depends on a few different factors, such as size of the job or weather for exterior work, but in general:
-
Full interior painting – 1-2 weeks
-
Painting just a few rooms – 2-3 days
-
Kitchen cabinets – 3-5 days
-
Full exterior painting – about 1 week
-
Exterior trim painting – 2-4 days
-
We accept checks, cash, or credit card (with 3.5% fee).
